Yarn of the Month

Yarn of the Month - April - Araucania

We've been busy...

Firstly the popular Gail (Nightsongs);I knitted gorgeous lace shawl in Ranco Multi a little while ago and it remains much commented on now. The yarn shows up the lace perfectly, no two ways about it.

Next my favourite yarn, Azapa. A blend of alpaca, merino, silk and Donegal this is absolutely like knitting with a cloud... I made the Anthropologie-Inspired Capelet.

Next to cast on will be the Wildflower Socks in Ranco Summer Pudding colourway...

A little bit about Araucania...

They are a group of artisans and designers dedicated to the artisan dyeing of fibers for weaving and knitting located in Santiago, Chile, on the southwest corner of South America.

It emerged when a mother & daughter team joined their talents and experience to create a company with the goal of introducing these traditional products, with their unique style, to the world.

Their inspiration is from our very diverse natural environment, and they are constantly working on developing the range of natural yarns and fibers featuring exclusive variegated colors, based entirely on careful handcrafted processes.

Each hank is different; its individual beauty emerges as the artisan blends color to create several unique shades. Each fiber is carefully selected from our providers around the world, (from Patagonian Wool to Peruvian Alpaca, from Turkish Angora to Egyptian Cotton) to offer the best textures possible.
